Group Training
Gentle Stars (Social Skill Training for Highly Sensitive Children)
Characteristics of Highly Sensitive Children
Highly sensitive children often feel overly anxious or unsettled in social situations, making it more challenging for them to interact with others. Compared to other children with special educational needs (SEN) who require social skills training, the challenges for highly sensitive children lie in their heightened sensitivity to external stimuli and more intense emotional reactions. Therefore, they need targeted training to address these specific issues.
Our social skills training group is specifically designed for highly sensitive children, providing a safe and supportive environment to help them gradually adapt to social situations. The group aims to boost their confidence, teach them emotional regulation, and enhance their social skills in a relaxed atmosphere.
Our targeted training is designed to more effectively meet their unique needs, distinguishing it from the training methods used for other children with special educational needs (SEN).
Course Content
- Creating a Calm Learning Environment
We create a calm and low-stimulation environment for highly sensitive children, allowing them to participate in various social games in a safe and warm atmosphere. This helps them naturally integrate into the group and build relationships with therapists and peers.
- Stop and Think” Skills Training
Using videos and role-playing, we teach children how to manage their emotions and cope with challenges instead of overly worrying about the worst-case scenarios. Our goal is to help them view problems in a more positive light, reducing anxiety and stress.
- Practicing Social Interaction
With the support and encouragement of therapists, children simulate common social activities found in schools or communities. This helps them learn how to respond to these situations and boosts their confidence.
